Does anyone REALLY know???
I've read and heard several "reasons" why the W210 has such a serious rust problem. Everything from "....they used too much scrap in the steel.." to "...they used the wrong primer". But does anyone REALLY know? There must be an MB employee out there that knows, definitively, what happened to this car. Answer anonymously. When MB is willing to repair a 6 year old car with 100K miles and full of rust, at no charge, it's not because of my powers of persuasion, it's because they know they are responsible....so what happened?

..I'm in Canada. But I have owned several MB and none have ever had this problem, to this extent. Curiously, 96 seems to be least affected. But there are threads on this site with people in CA who have serious rust in their cars. It is a know problem and you are lucky.
