Question about Suspension Kits (HR/Eibach)

I have a 00 e320. I purchased 19x10 wheels for the rear.

Does anyone have any experience with rubbing issues with either the HR Cup Kit or the Eibach Spring/Shock setup?

I have read on sites that the HR drops the rear by 1.8 inches, and the Eibach is 1.2 inches. Thanks again for any advice/help. Happy new years.

If anyone has a set of x10s on the rear and lowered I would love to see a photo! =) Thanks.

10" will fit but whether or not you'll rub depends on your wheels' offset and the tire you use.

Thanks. The tire is 265/35 and then the offset i believe is 35. Is there a site where I can calcuate that? Thanks again and happy new year.

My 9.5" with ET35 and 265's are already very close to the fender (Eibach springs with #4 pads). An extra 0.5" width (i.e. 0.25" on just the outer edge) might rub without fender rolling. However, you might get away with it using 265's as it means the tire's shoulder will be stretched a little compared to my narrower rims.

There are a number of sites that allow you to calculate the fender clearance and all but that's just the wheel and does not take into account the tire size and make (certain brands have rounder shoulders).

I would recommend not to get them, unless someone who has done those sizes can confirm for sure.

Sean's Sister--
i say when you lower the car you just should roll the fender at the same time, save you some time if it does rub. also it depends on with what pads you use too. i had the eibach prokit before no problems then i changed to the aggresive h&r cupkit with 1's all around i rub like hell and had to roll the fenders..............

Remember my Carlssons??? I had 19X10 Carlsson 1/6 Evos on 275/35's, Bilstein Sport/H&R Sport combo on #2 pads and no rub at all. I don't remember my exact offset but maybe Usman will read this and refresh my memory. I also had the camber arms on there and had them out as far as I could and no rub. Check out Usman's pics. or mine if you search back several months...

Hahahhaaha, Jimbo, of course I remember but also remember you weren't sure of your offsets dude I'm not expecting Usman to respond too soon since he's in a bit of a crisis situation right now.............

Thanks for the replies. This is going to sound very n00b, but do the kits come with the "pads". I assume the pads fit on top of the strut tower and are of different thicknesses? This is a guess from reading other posts. If not, where do I purchase these pads from and also is there a guide of which pad # = difference in ride height. Thanks again and you guys have been very helpful. I will post pics once I get this debalce figured out.

You must buy the pads separately from the stealer or other shops that sell MB parts. You will see your pads if you full lock your steering and peek at the ends of the spring with a torch. I've not verified but according to Jimmy, each pad size # represents a 5mm difference.

Hey Davey boy you're right, I guess age is kicking in right about now, lol. The pads are just about 5mm from what I remember. I actually have several spring pads sitting around from playing with the height of my suspension. Let me know what you need and I'll check and see if I've got them pat.

Thanks Jimmy. I just read in another thread that it seems the mercedes comes with #3 as a stock spring pad and then #1 would be the lowest. Would you happen to have any #1s laying around? I can send you an UPS label so you dont have to do anything. =)

BTW i just dropped my wheels off today to get refinished, 2-4 weeks and they should be done. =) cannot wait. now i just have to order the cup kit.

I found a pair of #1's but I believe they're rears only. I'll have to try and verify that later today and let you know as soon as I know...

no problem. thanks. quick question: do people run different pads between the front and back. Or does it have to be the same?

I have #1 in front and #4 in the rears - whether or not you need the same front and back really depends on the resulting drop front vs rear of the new springs. Eibachs tend to drop the front less relative to the rears, hence I needed such a big pad size difference.

Whitey's right, it depends on the way your ride sits once the suspension is installed.

Now for the good news, I found a complete set of #1's, for the front and rear. If you want them let me know. Send me a PM with your shipping details and their yours but there's one catch. After you get them in and finish your suspension install, if one pair is too low and you need to swap a pair out for a larger pair, please make sure to offer them to someone else in here that might need them. That's it! Talk to you in a few...
