Bilstein shocks change ride height?
Am I nuts or did the ride height increase after I installed E55 AMG Bilstein shocks on my Eibach-sprung E430 Sport?
It appears that both the front and rear are now about 1/4-1/2 inch higher with these shocks.
I have stock pads in rear and "1 bump" pads in front.

The pads have small raised portions or bumps on the pads that indicate their thickness. The one bump is the thinnest pad.

I asked the same question to "suspension experts" after reading numerous posts on this board about raised ride height with Bilsteins. All told me "impossible, BS" etc.
Well, I read on Bilstein's own website that gas pressurised monotube shocks DO raise the ride height.
One thing I have learned messing around with cars is that often the "experts" DON'T know what they are talking about!

yes, exactly. read up on bilstein's site and u will find that the nitrogen chamber in the shock actually may cause a rise in ride height. just the way the shock is designed.
sidenote: stock 96 c36 is taller than stock 96 c280.
