ABS/ESP light on

hi all,
recently i've been occasionally getting the abs and esp orange lights on when i turn on the engine in the early morning when i start the car. it's only happened once/month for past three months, but recently it's happened twice in one week. it goes away when i shut the engine off and restarts, and also it's never happened during the day. i've had my front brakes done just recently so i don't think this is it...but curious if you guys have ever experienced this and if you have any input. thx.
p.s. it's my 2000 E320 Lorinser wagon w/ 76k miles.

Having the same problem now , cept mine is the ABS/ETS light. I actually changed the stop light switch 10 days ago, and had no problems, and it only came up again yesterday. Could be something else now...

That's exactly my point...if it is merely a corrupted system (and it has happened to me a number times), a simple system scan and reset could be free or really cheap...certainly fixed my warning light problems twice already....free of charge!

There are ABS sensors on the front wheels if I am not mistaken...When they start to go bad they come on.
