Whats best way to keep battery charged in winter. I dont use my car often, due to snowy and icy conditions, but seems battery dies even though i start it every week , and drive it every 2 weeks, I was thinking of a trickle charger. ? any ideas anyone

2 weeks witout driving should not be a problem. Perhaps your battery is on its last legs. If its over 4 years old replace it. There are also battery devices that attach with clamps available that maintain a full charge when plugged in.

Just for info... my car is about seven years old and the battery that came with the car when it was first purchased has never ever ever been replaced. It takes me 0.5 seconds to start the car after not using it for three weeks. I live in cold and freezing NYC. There is no need to replace your battery unless you need to replace your battery.

Make sure that no interior lights are left on. Do you have anything plugged to an accessory plug that may drain the battery. If none of the above, either something is drawing current from your battery or your battery is bad. New batteries can be bad. Does anyone know how to perform a test to see if something is using battery when it should not? I realize minimal draw is required for various components but that stuff should run for at least one month and still start your car.
