Talking shift councel

anyone know how to romove shift councel or shift cover? spilled drink on need to open up and dry and clean all switches. windows go up & down by themselves shift not working rt. :

Console is the proper term. Anyway, you remove the gearknob, then pull up on the black trim ring around the shifter. Once you do that, open your ashtray and grab onto the wood panel (where your shifter, windows button etc are) and pull up. It just snap off. Then pull from the back and it comes right off. You'llre figure it out.

LOL, I couldn't work out what the title meant! Anyways, here's a little vid to show you exactly what Doc meant (except it tells you to pull from the cupholder, same idea)...right click and "save as" if left clicking doesn't work.

However, taking all that apart might not be enough to get into the actual shift mechanism which is a separate box underneath.......good luck.
