Radio Help!!!

Hello everyone!!!

This is great, helping out each other!!! Keep up the good effor!!!

I have a 1997 Mercedes Benz E420, a power horse, and it needs a MP3 player. I found a Kenwood Mp3 Player with detachable face for only $199, i found it in kenwood factory outlet store. But for Installation I don't trust other people to tear up my car to install the radio. So I was wondering if anyone here know how the panels and stuff come out. I have installed a radio in a 1997 Nissan Altima and BMW before, so i am sure it same basic thing, just connecting the harness. Only the difficult part for me is that i don't know how the radio comes out. So please tell me how does it come out. Thanks everyone for your help!!!!

To remove the radio you need a set of radio removal tools. You can get them from any MB dealer for about $10.

I am willing to buy the tool, but i don't see any tabs like bimmers have to unscrew the radio. And, also how do i take off the paneling, like the wood trim and stuff. Thank you everyone!!!!

Step# 01
Remove the climate control by inserting the Mercedes radio removal tools into the two slots on the face of the climate control and pulling out to release. Disconnect the wiring and set climate control aside.

Step# 02
Remove the radio using the same technique as with the climate control. DO NOT disconnect the wires to the radio; just place a rag on the center console and let the radio rest over the rag (to avoid scratching the console). Remove two screws from the top of the radio cavity. Grasp the wood grain trim bezel from the bottom and pull down and out to remove bezel. Push bezel toward the left side.
