Radio display gone?
New issue for me... Before I run to the dealer, wanted some advice from others.
I have a 2002 E55 with the standard radio (non-command system). I've had times where I've had to "reboot" (restart) the car when the CD isn't recognized or the Voice-command doesn't work. Happens infrequently enough not to be too painful.
Yesterday, I started the car and was pulling out of my driveway when I noticed my display on the radio was blank (as if it was powered off) -- but the radio was playing and I could see the radio station listed on the instrument cluster display.
Restarted the car and all is well again -- anyone else see this behaviour before? Known problem?

Mine has done that very infrequently. One day there was some digits on the display, but not others. Once in a while the radio will work, but it will say there is no voice, phone or CD present. A reboot cures the problem though.
It happens so rarely that I haven't bothered bringing it in to have it looked at.

2001 E430
I had this same problem on my 2001 E430. Happened 3 times within 4 months. Took it in for a service (3 months after the factory warranty expired) and they said that they found a short in the head unit that is not repairable (they weren't willing to tell me more about it). Starmark warranty doesn't cover it, so they wanted to charge me about $650 for a new replacement. I told them that I'd rather buy an Audio 10 off of E-Bay for about $300 and walked away shaking my head.
It hasn't happened since the car was in for service (about 4 months now). If does get worse, I plan to either follow through with my Audio 10, or upgrade to the Euro Comand.
Sorry I can't offer more info.
