Few Wiper Questions 2000 E320
1. Is the wiper blade an MB proprietary model, or can it be replaced with a beefier model from the auto parts store.
2. The single blade doesnt really do a great job in a driving rain, anyone know how to speed it up?

Yeah, i think the OE is Bosche, and you can get a new insert. i don't think the metal support for the insert is the problem. i don't have any trouble with my wiper speed, even doing 90 in the rain (did i say that?). maybe your motor needs some oil you should compare it with another W210 driver.

our 2001 e320 has a wiper blade that is somewhat unique to the MBZ world. I tried to replace it with a Bosch blade, and they are too narrow to allow the metal blade on the arm to attach to the wiper blade.
Option #2 was to replace the fixture on the wiper blade, but the arm requires a special lip to lock the arm and wiper together, and alas, the Bosch part has no such lip.
It is really a moot point though, as a new insert from the dealer is only $15 and it works wonders when new, not to mention that it fits correctly and it will not come loose or fly off the car at speed in the rain.
(This would be bad for the glass, possibly the front bumper or fender, and certainly for the leather surfaces of any occupied seats.)

1. Yes, but you can replace the entire wiper blade assembly with a more common 24" blade. W210 is about 25" long. Then, you can replace the blade with any type of blade insert later.
2. Fast speed not fast enough? Physically not a good idea to move the single arm faster, it will probably wear out the internal cam/eccentric and motor.

I have a e320 2003 w210 wagon. I lifted the wiper arm today and the whole blade assembly fell of the mono arm. I thought that was odd & decided to buy a new 24" rain -x conventional blade. Got home, and for the life of me, I can't get the new blade assembly on the arm. It looks like a "small J hook" style etc. Watched install videos, researched online, removed, re-installed rear blade one flawlessly. Am I missing something? Is the blade assembly supposed to just lightly engage w/ out a snap/click/lock mechanism? I've never had a challenge like this before on blade installs-Thanks for any help
