Non-COMAND Stereo Madness
So, like someone else posted here on their W210 my radio would sometimes say "No Magazine" "No Phone" and Voice recognition would not work. A restart of the car fix the problem.
Today I took my car into the dealer for MV inspection, when I left I noticed:
- The display in the instrumentation was BLACK (altho everything else worked)
The CD, phone, VR was working
- A while later I went to switch to CD1 from CD5, Stereo then says "NO MAGAZINE"...FM Radio turns on.
Ok...I put on FM Radio which I've probably used once since I bought the car
- 20 minutes later FM radio goes out, Radio flashes "DIAGNOSE" and goes back to FM Stereo
- Still says "NO MAGAZINE"
- Get home, turn off car, wait a while, restart car. Dash display is back, radio works except now it says "NO MAGAZINE".
- Go to pop out CD Magazine... motors whine and the light blinks fast and then it stops.
My guess is there is a CD stuck in there since the radio decided to have its little temper tantrum on the FDR, and once coming back on it now doesn't know what to do with itself.
I figured let me get home and restart the car before it decides to turn into poltergeist in Friday afternoon traffic and not start or something.
Any suggestions??
(If not, I'm sure the story is amusing...if it wasn't my car I'd be laughing)

The CD changer is not hard to disassemble. I purchased mine from an Ebay seller. When I got it, the magazine was stuck. To make a long story short, I got lucky... I disassembled the changer (took out case screws) and I ultimately found a foil chewing gum wrapper caught in the assembly. I removed the object and everything was okay. I was a little mad, but the seller also sent me the Bose amp along with a mounting bracket. I was able to resell the amp on Ebay to futher discount the purchase.

Thanks Rob. I took the CD player apart and dismantled it. Found out there was a penny hanging out in the unit! Put it back together and its working... whew...
