Trunk Liner
Just got done connecting up everything for the Nav unit. Unit is working fine and all I need is the trunk liner and the bracket. I took the part number listed above to the dealer and asked for the part.
He instead said the right part number is 211-690-65-53-9F08. Does that sound right to people that are more familiar with this.
Thanks,

What about an '03 e320???
Hey, I heard that putting it into an '03 E320 is different and extremely harder than in later models... is that true??? And if it is thendo you know what is the difference between putting it in the '03's vs. the '05's??? I know I have MOST but other than that I can't think of why it would be harder. I really wanna do this project to my car, but I also wanna be sure it will work if installed properly. I got a thumbs up from my dealer that they would do any programming necessary

I just put a Euro COMAND and Nav unit in my 2003. It is not as easy as indicated in STEPH280's post on a 2005 (no offense). The COMAND install is a piece of cake. The Nav unit was another story entirely. While mine was prewired for NAV, it was not plug and play. I was eventually able to figure out the way the fiber optics had to run, but it was vastly different from the above photos.

That's why I specifically said this is for MY 2005 which comes with the wide screen COMAND head unit. Even the 2004 had different set of instruction (fiber access on left passenger door well instead of trunk). 2003 is a completely different beast. Better contact MBENZNL in the post above for professional installation.

For Clarification, does that mean the 2004 E55 I own is not plug and play? And additional installation has to be done, not just what you posted?

Different model years
Thnx, I knew it would be alittle harder but with that said I'm still gonna go at it if you said that you were able to do it GATLEEVA. I'll also ask the dealer for help (my dealer is actually someone I trust how rare is that).

hey guys, I am currently in the process of finding out if I will have a hard time installing a Command system and it looks like it will be pretty smooth as long as everything recognizes each other.
Here's what I found in my '03 e320
First I noticed the door where the SAM is and popped it open and it looked like there was a bracket for the nav unit
Bracket sticking out
[URL=http://imageshack.us]
I then proceeded to take apart the trunk liner and voila!! the wires that were shown in Steph280's picture were in my car.... almost. The optical connector in my car is a bit different. I think I might need the AGW. But other than that it has the same power outlet and antenna wire. So I'm wondering whether the AGW needs to be installed or not.
Harness that needs tobe clipped
[URL=http://imageshack.us]
My optical connector is a bit different prolly cause there's no AGW installed (only two cords)
Better View of the wires dunno what the other optical harness is for either
So my conclusion is that it can be installed relatively easily but the question is will it all be plug and play or plug and go to the dealer for help... good thing they're on my side.

AWwwwww shoot, after reading some posts by Mbenznl it'll be harder than I think cause I got the APS headunit. I guess you gotta run wires for a radio module and everything... But I'm still gonna try it!!!!!!!!

Without it I would have never figured out the correct connections. Good luck!

Wiring Diagram
THnx Gatleeva. I took a look at thatsame wiring diagram on startekinfo.com but I'm wondering if the components have to be wired in the exact order as the diagram. Right now the only thing I have wired in the back of my car is the Teleaid. I'm wondering why you couldn't run a wire from the teleaid to the AGW
then to the nav unit. it would save alot of digging

Yes antenna is prewired and shared with teleaid. Photo in post #8 basically shows how the splitter used to share the antenna between GPS and teleaid.

Update fiber optic network
Do you have to bring your car to the dealer for reprogram the fiber optic network after the installation of the dvd drive? If so do they give you hard time and what doest it cost?

It helps to have the fiber optic wiring diagram. You can find it here:https://mbworld.org/forums/showpost....07&postcount=2

NEVER MIND, the XX16 was right under the b-pillar cover, right where MBenzNL said it should be. Got it working perfect, pretty easy once you know what you're looking for, but not a job for the amateur.
Cheers!

-Remove the antenna cable bracket by cutting the back mounting tab. This bracket will not be re-used.
-In the bracket there is one connected cable and one open ended cable not connected to anything. Unhook the connected cable and plug to the input and output#1 of the splitter. Then connected the open ended cable into output#2 of the splitter.
-Install the antenna splitter into the same location where the bracket used to be.

Where is this part located in your vehicle? I have a wagon and a look around the rear of the vehicle failed to turn this part up.
Thanx!

Look on the left side inside the trunk, below the C-pillar.
Oh wait, you have a wagon. Not sure where it would be in a wagon through, but it couldn't be too far from where the factory location for nav drive.

I can't find it looking west of it (i.e. where the NAV bracket would end up being installed).

If that's the case, then what does the original part look like?
