Cargo hook retrofit
This is a pretty easy modification for those of you who are appaled by what MB considers to be "hooks" in the trunks of W211 sedans without folding seats. I replaced the rear set of hooks with the proper D-rings from the estate (wagon) and sedans with folding seats. Also D-rings were added to the very front of the trunk right behind the seat, where they exist on sedans with folding seats. The set in the middle were left unmolested.
The front D-rings were used to secure the added JL audio subwoofer box (12") with attached JL 500/1 amplifier. There was a problem with the box being migratory under hard cornering, and several attempts to secure the box were unsuccessful until this modification was completed.
If you're looking for a fairly easy mod for your car, this is a cheap and easy one to try.
(This is a good mod to use with the subwoofer wiring harness I recently developed.)
