... the W210 was rated, not the W211, though it's unlikely that the W211 is less safe than the W210.

Not for the W211

Alas, that data is for the 1999 - 2002 model E-Class, i.e., the W210.

I got very excited when I first saw this, as our other vehicle is a Toyota 4Runner, which came in second best. This data, too, is for the previous generation vehicle.

I saw that too. What happened to evolution... It's not a far fetched idea that the latter version would be as, if not, safer... no?
