Anyone with Light Tint?

As some of you know I was ticketed with 35% tint for the front windows and no front plate about a year ago. I had to go to court and prove that my front plate was back on and I took off the front window tint. The judge let me off with no fines after showing pics.

Going to the tint place tomorrow to either take the tint off the rear window and doors or go light (50-50%) on all 4 doors as I just don't like the look with just the rears tinted (the car looks chopped off IMO). Does anyone have pics of light tint (I think it's 50%-55%). If they're light enough that I don't think I will be hassled, I'll probably get the light tint. If it's too dark, I might just take off all the tint. Any pics would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Man that sucks for you. Cops here in San Diego are MUCH looser with the interpretation of the law. I have no front plate and am running 15% all around with NO problems.

Best of luck to ya. Just as a note, my mother in laws car has 50% on it due to heat and it does not seem too dark for the police. You may want to give it a shot. I also hate the choppy front look, but ANY extra tint is better than the stock one.

I find certain interior and exterior colors make the tint stand out more, enough to be noticed by the cops.

You'll barely notice 50% tint. Might as well not have anything on unless you're after the UV protection.

Here in Illinois any aftermarket tints on the front windows are illegal. A buddy of mine who's a cop said if it's light....they usually don't hassle you but you never know. Just wanted to see what light tint looks like as most go for at least 35% tint.

I am planning on doing the same. Having a black interior, though, I am not worried that 50%would be too light, as the black interior would make it look darker.

I had the same problem with medium all the way around. What I ended up doing was putting the light tint on the rear windown and medium on all the sides. Since the rear window lets a lot of light in with the lighter tint, you wont have the problem with the cops but get the benefit of medium on all four side windows.

Well, if your cop friend was right, all cars would be illegal, since they come with a slight tint from the factory. The law states that the visibility of the front passengers can not be obscured. This law was in response to shootings involving cops walking up to a car that they had pulled over. I agree with the spirit of the law, and that is why I am willing to comply. But, since I have nothing illegal in my car, I'll wait to get the fix it ticket before I take the tint off.
I also disagree that 50% does nothing. Like I already said, been there done that and it has a huge effect in looks alone. I could care less about UV protection. When was the last time you got a sun tan through the stock window? I can tell you....Never! LOL.

I always wondered how a tint over the bluish tint would look like.
Can anyone recommend a good tint place in oc, ca?

I don't know of any up there, but make sure that you get the inner rubber seal lined with the felt. Most cars come with it already, but the higher end cars don't.
