Interesting how an E-Class coupe isn't bad at all, but turning the CLS "coupe" into a real coupe produces a bufugly result.

It's just some skillful Phun with Photoshop, unless easydesign has inside information. Arguably, there already is an E-class coupe, the CL, although the CL's very steep price premium - 50% over the price of a similarly-equipped E500 - would seem to leave the way open for a coupe directly based on the E-class, at a more reasonable premium. A BMW 645 goes for about 25% more than a 545, and that's with a different body.

It would take more of an expert on Mercedes platforms than me to say if the CL coupe is more like the E- or the S-class under the skin. It's halfway between the two in length although, of course, its price puts it firmly in S-class territory.
The CLK-class strikes me as a variation on the C-class, and not just because of the headlights, but also because of its size and pricing. The CLK coupe costs less than an E-class sedan with the same engine; the CLK cabriolet about the same as the comparable E-class sedan. Convertibles usually command a hefty price premium, for instance, $7,000 in the BMW 6-series.
