how do i adjust the time on my clock? I don't have NAV, i just can't figure out how to change the time for the life of me.

Unfortuately you have to refer to pages 159 and 160 of the manual (2005). These are instructions on how to manually adjust the time. The access is through the Settings menu. The directions are fairly clear, but be patient. With NAV the adjustment is still manual, but employing a different method (of course).

Access the Time/Date submenu through the Settings menu by way of the steering wheel controls. It should be self explanatory thereafter. If not, see page 137 (for 03) in the manual.

Because I'm easily entertained - it just cracks me up to watch the hands go completely haywire with no seeming rhyme or reason just to set the clock ahead.

I agree. What in the world are the hands doing? If you adjust by only a minute, it sometimes goes the wrong way by several hours and the reverses to come back to the correct position. Never can understand the logic. But as you say, it is entertaining.

I just did it today. I was hoping someone else would ask so I wouldn't have to fiddle with it. You access the Time/Date submenu through the Settings menu by way of the steering wheel controls on the left. The plus and minusses they are talking about are on the right side of the steering wheel (I always look for them on the console panel). Honestly, you have to admit this is engineering that is ridiculous. Manually changing the time with a little knob on the clock used to be so simple. All of this talk about having to get the instruction manual to change the time ought to get someone's attention. And then watching the hands go crazy--ridiculous!

Oh, and I forgot to mention that you have to save your changes by holding down the reset button, which is that little button just under the left side of the instrument panel (where they could have put a little knob to just manually turn the thing a little instead of going through all of the above!).

The clock in my previous E320 (before NAV swap) always moved back to 12:00 before going to the correct time. I would usually wait until close to 12 o'clock to change the time to avoid long movements. They apparently fixed the algorithm in later models as the clock does not reset to 12 o'clock anymore.

Yeah I agree about the (Reset) button part being confusing. It took me a while to see the writing that said that
Now I can't seem to get the convinient features to go from off to on. Does the car need to be in Park or something? I have a bad habit of fiddeling with this stuff while I am in traffic which I am sure not recommended.

Wow. I just went through this and the programmer should be ashamed of themselves. What a despicable process. Considering it must be done twice a year, you would think they could make it easy. By contrast, it only took me 30 seconds to change the clock on my 911.
