Watch that hood hinge!
i opened the hood yesterday and fully extended it in upright position. this is the first time i opened this car like that. when i came to close it i somehow did not unlatch it properly and without too much force broke and mangled the whole hinge....i took it off and am waiting for replacement. i also observed how thin and light the actual hood is. does anyone know if the hood is made from some special material.
cheers

I learned about the aluminum fenders when I was using a flashlight with a magnetic fastener to look under the hood. I decided I needed both hands for some reason so I tried to park the flashlight by carefully putting the magnet on the flashlight up against the side of the fender. The flashlight fell right to the garage floor.

The lower piece of trunk (where license plate mounts to) feels like plastic to me. Is that really aluminum?
In addition I found the A-pillar is not metallic, at least the outer shell. I had a rock chip and was wondering if I need to cover it up with touchup paint to prevent rust. Somebody told me not needed since it's plastic. True?
