Warranty and Insurance

Never worth it until you need it. And you hope you don't need it. But when you do . . . If we knew when we were going to die, we'd all buy term insurance the day before. If we knew when we were going to get in a wreck, we'd get zero deductible the day before. If we knew when the computer was going to give up the ghost, the window electronics quit, the air conditioner compressor stop and so on . . .

I honestly believe MB engineer's been asked to put bugs in computer chips which could indicate many diff type of electrical problems when car reach to 50K. To replace any "malfuntion" component, from my experience, each might have cost from $700-$1000 part & labor. @ 59K miles, mine cost $750 to replace SAM and $960 to replace EIS (Electrical Ignition Switch), both at the same time. My wife drive 23K mile/year so, for our next lease, we will have to get 2 year-lease.

Those prices are RETAIL. They are negotiable. I paid a little more than your quoted 3 yr. for my E55, which is much more expensive than the std. E class. It is transferrable, so might be a selling point when you go to sell the car.

The MB extended warranty is most definitely negotiable. I paid about 25% off the retail price for the 3 year extended warranty.

Its piece of mind. I opted to purchase the 3 years or 100,000 miles extended warranty. However the things that swayed my decision was the fact that if I never use the extended warranty I get a full refund back of what I paid for it.

So if something every goes wrong with the car after the factory warranty and not real expensive to fix, I'll just pay out of pocket to repair it. However if something real big goes wrong, I have the extended warranty.

I thought I had heard the same thing, dealer said no. Are you sure? That would be great. Like you said, inexpensive pay for it. Big deal use the warranty.

Talking Negotiate?

EVERYTHING can be negotiated. Just depends on how much they want the sale that day. I got over 25% off of mine also. The Dealer was NOT happy, but did it.
