I think that is about average. I bought my car in August (produced in March of 04) and in spite of the car being a dealer transfer, my car only had 19 miles on it! I was totally surprised that my car that low a mileage. Most all new cars I have seen have always had about 70 miles on them.

could be due to testing before it was put on the ship. I hear they pick cars at random before shipping to do some testing.

also, could have been moved from another nearby dealer as well to your dealer?

anyways, congrats and post some pics

I had 11 miles on mine. But my Lexus I had before had 85. I think they used that one for test drives though. Still the Lexus never gave me a problem.

Question Miles a little to high

At delivery, mine had 14 miles. If the unit was part of a test sample, I was told by the dealer that the car carries a required sticker disclosing that fact. The only logical expaination is a dealer trade, but you should have been aware of that unless it was an earlier trade that was not comsumated.

In the end, so what. After the first day, I would bet you doubled the miles. A bit of a mystery, but why let it concern you. I a suspect you are very pleased with your new car.

Mine had 10, I think. My Boxster had 4 at delivery, and so did my Maxima. I have a general rule about miles at delivery, I prefer single digits. I don't see the need for more. A lease is a different story, I really couldn't care less how many miles, since I'll give it back long before it matters.

My E55 had 7. I think my 540 had 5 or 6. 71 does seem like a lot, but I don't think it really matters in the end.

I agree, it shouldn't be worry for a leased car, but if you are going to own, then it's a good reason to ask for discount. Mine had 19 and dealer lowered price.

Mine had 9 miles on the odometer, and it had been driven by the dealer to calibrate the tire pressure monitor sensors.

Mileage at the factory gate

I had just under twenty miles on the clock - and I collected the car from the factory.

Perhaps they use them to nip out for their lunch breaks before passing them on to the owner?

well, i guess u people cannot believe what i got when the first time i collect my car.
I got 252 miles and the dealer told me that they actually drove the car from the original place instead of putting it in a truck or whatsoever...

It's cool, man. Ours had like 84 miles. Maybe see if they'll discount some, but if not, water under the bridge. A week from now you won't even care, you'll be smiling as you're behind the wheel and cruising.

If I may, I'll offer this analogy. It's like you're dating this girl, and you find out she's not a virgin. Sure, it might bug you in the beginning that she's been taken out on some test drives by a few people, but then as you date her more and more, you notice how hot, funny, and smart she is. A year later, when you're happily engaged and dreaming about kids down the road, you don't even think about those miles on the odo at pick up.

But with this example, could you get a discount?

I would have refused the car as well as the original poster's car. If you're leasing, well I guess that's one thing. But if you bought it. No way. There is absolutely no reason to have a "new" car have that many miles on it. All my MB's have had less than 10 miles when delivered.
