Autocar E55 photos and article

But look what you are getting - it's no more expensive than a Carrera 4, is probably half a second quicker than a Carrera to 100km/hr, has state of the art engineering, plenty of space and superb fit/finish. Residuals also shouldn't be half bad.
Best of all it has the same 470HP motor as the SL55, and, weighing 200kg less, outperforms it as well (at least until MB gave the SL55 an additional 30hp to compensate). And it costs 30,000 pounds less than the SL55 in UK. Whew, I have been looking around for a while for a car to replace my late departed and still beloved RS2, and to me the E55 looks like a bargain.
Mine arrives in January

My guess is that the reception given the W211 is why BMW are bringing foward the release of the new 5 series to spring next year. It was originally going to be at Frankfurt 2003. You might even now see the M5 at Frankfurt!

But I am still hoping MBwill differentiate the E55 a little bit more from the sport package. A rear apron as per the SL55 or three piece wheels would be nice - but I'm not holding my breath.

The grill also looks partially blackened or covered. I doubt whether this or non chromed tail pipes will occur in the production version - not on past AMG form anyway!

Personally, it is time for MBZ to update the AMG " monoblock" wheel look after 12 years. The only change has been to thinner spokes on larger diameter , but basically same . The split spoke wheels on C32 and upcoming '03 S55 and CL55 look OK, but give a visual perception of smaller diameter ,to me.
