E500 2006 Negotiations and Price

I have decided to order 2006 E500.
I really wanted an AMG package and there are no cars black on black in the whole country with AMG.

I am going to go to a dealer some time next week to place an order.

Couple of questions though:

1. Does anyone know prices for E500 2006
2. If I order the car through one dealership and then the car arrives, they know I want that car becuase I've orderd it and they will not negotiate on the car as much as if I walked in from the street.

What are my options here? Can I threaten them to go to another dealer and negotiate on the same car I've ordered?

Thanks

Many dealers will deal at invoice or close to it (m)

Find a dealer who will work at invoice or invoice plus "X".

You should do your price negotiations before you sign an order with any dealer. If your first dealer doesn't meet your desired price, go to another and try again from the start. I've found it's better to deal with the.General Manager of a dealership if you know him or her as opposed to having the salesman play their usual games.

Firm up the price before you even mention a possible trade-in. With new models, some dealers will play a "we can only get so many" and try to make you pay list. If you emphasize you want a specific model and color and are willing to wait for it, you should get a price that is invoice plus X. It used to be you could get good prices on European Delivery but not sure if that's the case any more.

Good luck and "Keep Cool".

Don't give up the search

I was also looking for a very specific Black/Black, light package, without appearance package and was told that it was not available. I asked the dealer to expand the search to all colors. Behold, two obsidian black cars became available. I now own one... I would ask your dealer to try searching again and also search for any cars that are on the boat...By the way, I had to go to four dealerships before one was able to find the car I was looking for. Good luck....

The tricky part is they don;t have any pricing yet on 2006 E500. So it is hard to negotiate. Here is what I've been able to do on my order of 06. I told them that I will only buy it if you beat the price of www.carsdirect.com
They say that they will but the price will not be much lower then MSRP.

Right now if I go to cars direct I could get about $8K off of MSRP.

Dealer says for a new 2006 carsdirect will not price it much lower then MSRP since it is 2006 , I think they are wrong.

3 Questions:

1. Do you think I picked the right strategy to negotiate my 06 on order based on new cars direct price when it is available?

2. Any other suggestions on what is the most affective way to negotiate the price of the car on order when pricing is not available yet?

3. How much lower is the invoice price compare to MSRP?

Thank you in advance for all of your help

Why do you want a 06? You can get a monster deal on a 05 E500. Am I missing something? Is there a special change for the 06?

The reason why I want a 06 is beacuse I want to get an AMG package and they do no have any 05 with AMG package left.

Hence the OP's sage advice to set your deal up at invoice "plus."

Also, you'll do far better on an '05.

Is carsdirect like autobytel?

06 AMG pkg...

isn't the AMG pkg mainly appearance only? Get a black/black loaded 05, swap the rims out, and there you go! plus, you'll get about 9-10K off sticker.

Doesn't the 06 E500 have the new 4 valve V-8?

No, it does not. It probably will be in the new S-Class (W221) though. The new engine might finds its way into the facelifted E-Class, but definitely not this year's E-class.

AMG package is not just the wheels. AMG packages makes the car look just like E55 but deffrent looking wheels and 2 single pipes. If I was to put AMG package on e500 myself it would be at least $8K.

Autobytel is different then carsdirect. On carsdirect you buy a car from them. On autobytel they forward your info to a dealer.

The AMG package for the regular E does not include the side skirt as far I as know

So far I have gathered the following info concerning the AMG parts
E55 exhaust (4 pipes) will set you back about 2 grand
the full body kit will set you back about 4.5 grand
and the wheels cost about 2.5 grand
so your estimate is pretty much accurate.

I see that you have a e500, 06 on order.
How did you or plan to negotiate the price of your car?

I bascially told them up front that we'll negotiate using the invoice price + a certain amount and they seem to agree.

Here is the deal I;ve made with my dealer on my 06 order:

I am going to buy my car below carsdirect.com price

I am in San Francisco, CA and when you go to cars direct the price is lowere then invoice.

They seem to agree to my offer.

I agree. Why be so nebulous when you're the customer?

Nail down the particulars in advance. (Whatever your internet source is, it isn't a certainty).

I can't imagine having the car on the lot and trying to negotiate from there. They know they've certainly got a sucker.

Negotiate from a position of strength, which you now enjoy, before the car arrives. That is, invoice plus X.

Good luck!

Actually I think invoice + X gives an advantage. Comments?

I don't think anyone is selling '06 E's below invoice.

For what it’s worth, E350 MSRP-6000 (which should bring you below invoice) is available through the Internet departments of several CA dealers and one FL dealer. Secret, shop on the last day of the month.
