Snow tires

Can anyone suggest a good pair of snow tires for a 2003 E500 Sport? Most of winter driving would be on packed snow, ice, or in wet conditions.

2003 E500
There are lots of earlier threads on this, both on this forum and on the tire forum. But I am happy to pass along that I have been very happy with Dunlop Winter Sport M2s, and from the Tire Rack website it looks as if the M3s are even better.

Winter tires are a good idea for 4matics as well (though a 2003 500 is probably not a 4matic) as 2-wheel drive cars. A 4matic with winter tires will accelerate better than one without them (especially if the alternative is summer tires rather than all season), and when it comes to braking, a 4matic is no better than or different from a 2-wheel drive car.

Thanks for the help. This is my first rwd car. I'll be sure to check out the tire threads. Not a 4-matic.

Drove around all winter in my Dunlop WinterSport M3's. Made my car handle like my old Audi 2.8 Quattro. I drive a E55 and even with all that power and torque the M3's rocked!

Don't just do a "pair." Make sure you get 4. Haven't tried my E class in snow yet, but Dunlop M2's made my old 540 virtually unstoppable (except for the time my wife drove it off the side of the driveway into 12"!).

Use my stock 18" rims in the winter with same size snows on all four.
