side view mirrors - are they heated

Folks,

Did a quick search and didn't see anything, of course the manual doesn't tell you if they are heated eitehr (just how to move them). I'm hoping they are heated - anyone know for sure?

thx.

They are/were on the '03, I believe there is a small etched logo of a defrost grid on the mirror lower. They run by temp, not switch action.

Keeping my fingers crossed...

Well,

I have an 05 and didn't see that logo on the mirros and live in the northeast so something tells me that it may have been part of decontenting. UGH.
for 65K, no RDS, no mem presets, and probably no heated mirros.
But still one heck of a ride! Hopefully someone can cnofirm on a 2005.

Both of my 2003 E's have had heated mirrors and they are a MUST HAVE in snow and ice conditions in my opinion. If they took this away in their decontenting, they made a big mistake. Certainly hope they didn't!

I have a Feb build E55 and my mirrors are heated. In the edition A 2006 owner's manual, it says on p.43 "At low ambient temperatures, the exterior rear view mirrors will be heated automatically." As there is no button for you to activate them, I don't think they waste a lot of space in the manual talking about them. However, at several points in the manual they warn you that if the mirror glass is broken, it can release liquid electrolyte which can damage the paint.

From the MBUSA website for the 2005 E500 Sedan:
'Dual power mirrors, linked to driver's seat memory and automatically heated.'

My base-model 2005 E320 (CDI) has heated mirrors...

I know because I have seen the mirrors (both driver and passenger) steaming vigorously after washing the car in the winter time.

I have had the driver's side mirror glass out since I replaced it with convex glass. The factory mirror positively had heating elements molded to the back of the mirror.
When I bought my convex mirror in Germany they had both the heated and plain versions asvailable. There was quite a price difference between the two.

On my 03 only the driver’s side is heated. I believe the easiest way to tell is if the actual mirror has rubber or plastic trim around its edge.

On my C that identifies the self dimming mirror. Would the E be different?

my error on an earlier post--my '03 does have both sides heated, but there is no grid logo on either. I've seen them both work. Only the driiver's auto dimming has the rubber surround.

mirrors...

well guys...sounds like we're ok. I got worried because i didn't catch it in the manual and there's no buttons or heated icon on the mirrors!

For what it's worth, the E and C Class mirrors use the same glass. The convex glass I bought in Germany for my W211has a W203 part number.
