interior looks anything like the upcoming S class then they can keep it. It looks to me like a blatant rip off of the ugly and awkward BMW 7 series- complete with an iDrive like controller MB used to make fun of. What the heck are they smoking over there?

Here is a link to pics:

I'm not a big fan of the current interior of the S class, But your absolutly correct.... That interior is just like the BMW and is equaly ugly. I'm not digging that exterior too much either. Maybe it will look better in the flesh.

Compare the softened "Bangle Butt" on the new S-Class with the similar posterior on the new Acura RL:

... or the dash on the new S-Class with the one on the current 7-Series:

Coincidence? I ... think ... not.

I want that new engine in the E-class, which will likely be next year. That should drop the 0-60 in the low 5 second range.

I guess we should consider ourselves lucky...the current E-Class has the most beautiful interior out there. It will be hard to improve on it IMO.

I sure hope those were some prototype pictures. They looked too much like the BMW rear end and the taillights are awful too.

I'll bet we are already in the mid-low 5's for 0-60 (m)

I read a recent article in R&T (I think) testing the CLS500, which has the exact same powertrain as the 7 speed equipped E500, but weighs a bit more. Tested at 5.4 0-60 with a sub 14 second 1/4 mile. Not bad. I'd bet the new engine if/when it arrives will be under 5!!
