Build quality for the new E......
I read in R&T or Car and Driver that the Austrian facility (Steyr?) currently assembling the G500 will be contracted to assemble the new E-class to supplement production to meet the initial demand for the car.
I am a somewhat unfortunate lessee of a 99' ML430 that has seen its share of problems. Is anyone besides me concerned with this activity?
I do not expect to buy a new E until April of 03' when my current lease is up and think by that time some of the initial bugs (if any) may have been worked out. In any case, do any of you have any specific thoughts, pro or con on German assembly vs. Austria, etc..?

I would presume that the quality in the factory, which former produced the G-series, would be great. What comes to the the question "which is better", I think they are equal good. But hey, I am not an automobil expert...

German assembly versus Austria ?
99ML430,
For sure (101%), I prefer the car assembled in Germany.
Just an example about Volkswagen built in Germany and Mexico.
I had a 1991 Honda Accord made in US and guess what ? a lot of problems .....
That doesn't mean the Honda Accord or the Volkswagen, today in 2002, is not a reliable car.
Unfortunatelly, new car (model), new factory, new sub-contracts,... mean problems !!!!
