No Nav system on first run of W211 E class
Hi Guys (and Gals),
We have just had our Sat. AM sales meeting and been notified that the new E class, initially, will not be available with a nav system. I don't understand how they can bring out a new model for 2003 and not offer a nav system(?). When the nav becomes available it will be in conjunction witha "running change" to a COMAND unit similar to the ML that will allow the Nav. to be added as a dealer installed accessory. No time line on when this change will occur.

that sucks...wonder why MB would decide that.. just when you think that they are heading in the right direction by decreasing the price of the changer .. they do this....
but then again i dont know too many people who do do order nav in the cars? it can't be too big of a percentage...

My parents live in Europe and just received their new E last Tuesday (07/02)
They purchased the Nav but were disappointed after having experienced the unit in our ML500 here in the US. I still believe this might be a mistake but my mom says they only get the directions not the map, I understand the screen is very small, but...
On our ML, you can select the options map, directions or hybrid. Do you know if that is the case on the E sold in Europe? I would be so surprised...

ARe those mB folks on crack? Seriously, what the hell are they smoking? Once you go nav, you can't go back lol.

I agree wholeheartedly since i currently have a Command system, no way i would buy a new car that i would own for at least 4 years without a nav system. For a 50K car and more likely 60K with options how can you not justify it?
