The scanning of radio station presets will be allowed again just as you suggested. Unfortunately, we do not know yet a fixed date when the change will be effective. As soon as the new software is available your dealership will get in touch with you.”
9 months later still no “birth” of a software fix. Probably side tracked with designing the new S-Class. Did you know that the upcoming S will be the last MB built new from bumper to bumper (at least according to current management)? Anyway, it is my guess that if a large number of inquiries are emailed within a relatively short period of time Dr. Weber will consider it a priority and the software fix will be released.
If, in fact, you are truly adamant about scanning your presets PM me and I’ll forward the operations manager’s email address.

To reiterate, send a Private Message with your request and I will reply with the email address. Also, I respectfully ask those who receive the address to please not post it. I would rather attach legitimacy to this “campaign” than have it be a shot gun attempt not taken seriously. Most important, when you email include your VIN.

especially since phones (integrated cell phone) are a much bigger distraction from driving (see IIHS study released today).

I too haven't gotten any replies (2 days after email).. My experience with emailing Germany is it takes them weeks to get back to you sometimes.

Voice-activated commands
I don't use the voice commands much, but I do use them to change radio stations where I don't want to look away from the road, even for a second. I think it's a viable workaround to the crazy way the steering wheel buttons work, if you happen to have it installed.
Doesn't work for Sirius, though.

In my email, I also mentioned the lack of RDS, volume indication, and time/date as software items that need to be updated.

got mine as well...
lets see what happens. i'm not very hopeful. there have been many of you/us on this forum a lot longer than i that have been talking about these issues for years. The w211 is in its 3rd, and really 4th year if you count 06 and still no fixes.
