Help! I Have Questions Before I Pull Trigger on E500

I'm almost certainly going to pull the trigger on an E500 this weekend. My desired configuration is Pewter/Charcoal, Premium Package, Lighting Package, and fold-down rear seats. I have some questions first that I'm hoping the group can help me with.

1. Which dealers should I call? I was going to try CarsDirect as well as Mark Newton at House of Imports. I seem to recall there is another good guy to talk to at Rusnak in LA or SD, but I can't remember his name. And of course there are all the dealerships in heavy rotation at AutoSpies. Aggressive pricing and some measure of integrity/reliability are important to me. Feel free to PM me if you have info or recommendations. FYI, I'm in NH and figure I'm going to have to ship this car one way or the other, so I'm open to talking to any US dealerships. Bonus points for Boston, NY or DC area.

2. On pricing, what are people seeing?

3. The '05s are on the lots now. I can factory order an '06. I know there will be some price delta. Other than the difference in the Premium Package configuration (Drive Dynamic Seats in the '05, Active Ventilated Seats w/ heating in the '06) are there any other differences between the 05 and 06 that I should be aware of?

Thanks in advance for any help.

My dealer was giving away E500's for $5000 off sticker as early as last month with I got my CDI.. I came in for an E500 initially and was prepared to pay around $59K.. but it ended up being a choice between $55K and $54K for the 500/CDI.. the engine was the only reason I went with the CDI, but the 500 has a better interior, suspension, etc...

See if this $5000 discount is still available and go to your local MB dealer.. it's less hassle than ordering it sight unseen from some car broker.

BTW.. I got my mom an E350 at Autobahn motors, and I know people there if you want me to get you in touch.. I paid $500 over invoice on a '06 E350 2 months ago..

I worked with a Jerome Jackson at house of imports (Buena Park). You can see what my car came with below. I paid 56000$.

I've had the same questions that you had and I found answers to it.

Read this post:

Go to autobahn motors , they have the biggest selections and are very friendly.
Talk to Internet Sales Manager, his name is David Wolkin.
His phone number is 650-631-3061. Tell him you came from Andrei Belkin (the guy who placed an order on 06 E-500 with him).
Since he is an internet manager he is aware of all the specials and pricing on cars direct.
IF you decide to go with 2005 you should be paying no more then $850 for 39months with 12K a year including tax. It is for E-500 premium pkg + appearance pkg.
Bring cars direct print out with you and you will get 10K off of MSRP.

If you decide to order 2006 then make a deal with him that you will pay invoice price plus $500 for a 2006.
Make sure that you tell him that you came from me (he gives people who came from me very good deals).
If you have any questions PM me.

Also mention to David that Sam Samaha that bough an E-350 for his mom sent you.. tell him you are expecting a steal of a deal.. and I'm sure you'll get it.

Talking '05 vs. '06 E500

Go with an '05 model that's on the lot, if you want to play hardball on the price. If you want to customize your '06, you may not have much working room for negotiating. Now that the FSP is not an issue, you want to decide between customization vs. price consciousness.

Even tho I didn't exactly get all the options I wanted on my '04 (a yr ago today... sniff sniff...see other thread), I did get a kick-a$$ deal that I'd be stupid not to do again.

Good luck w/ your order & come back with some pics.
