I don't know where the "adaptive" part comes from, unless the lights flash only when you go beyond a certain threshold of braking pressure, or flash more rapidly depending on how hard you are braking.
Flashing brake lights can only be good, although it could be quite a light show in heavy traffic at night if everyone had them. Sometimes when I'm in heavy freeway traffic, I'll tap the brakes repeatedly to make them "flash" when I have to slow down, if I don't need a sudden stop but have doubts about whether the fool in the SUV behind me talking on his phone will also slow down. I'm probably not the only one who does that.

If it's anything like the ones on bimmer 7 series, the brake lights get brighter as you step on the brake harder under emergency conditions. They advertised that feature heavily on TV ads.
Flashing brake lights look so cheesy, seems to be something that belongs to ricers.
