COMAND audio control availability

There's something that's bothering me on my COMAND. When the COMAND is in MAP mode, pressing the radio station preset will lock out all controls (except volume) until the box displaying current station disappears. This makes channel surfing impossible. Is this normal, or are there fixes?

Comand needs a major software re-write IMHO, that's just one of several mods, I'd make.

Channel surfing is done with the SCAN function. It then performs frequent station changes by itself until you are satisfied.

Im not entirely certain I understand why the steering wheel is not of any use .... apart from the greater number of unwanted stations.

well....

I live 50 miles from both NYC & Philadelphia and i can tell you that my damn radio must scan through a good 30 to 40 radio stations that i really don't want to hear - that's what makes the damn thing useless to me. COMAND needs to be modded or canned IMO.

That has always annoyed me too. Actually, the same thing happens with CD-Text with a long name of a song. It will flash for a little bit on screen, and won't allow you to do anything. Why they don't just allow the CD-Text to go to another line is beyond me.

Anywho, I've made the mistake of pressing the * and the track number with the intention of going to another track, but have switched discs instead. DOH!

No fix I have found yet.

That is the second most annoying quirk (for which I haven't found a fix) next to having to set the Audio selection to Auxiliary in order to have the Map/Nav function without the radio on.

This greatly annoys me as well. There is approx. a 3-5 second delay until you change the preset station while in the map mode.
