Appearance package - is it worth it ?

hi gang,

I am an old SLK230 owner who used to read and seldomly post to the old board,
back in the days of Bruce and Brian. But i had to recreate my Id, so
this is my first post.

But I'm looking to get a 06 E350 wagon and I'm really stuck on whether
or not to spend the 4k for the Appearance package.

Anyone out there get it and thought it was a mistake ?
Anyone not get it and wish they did ?

The part I notice the most in the package are the wheels, the Rucha's look sharp.
I'm tempted to save the 4k and just exchange the wheels later, but I can't
find them here in the states.

Anyone also know the difference in the front grill with the package ?

thanks

john

Definitely worth it. Double check, i don't think the appearance package is that much. Maybe you are talking about the AMG package, that runs around 4 grand or so. The AMG package comes with everything the E55 comes with but without the AMG engine.

The appearance package comes with the upgraded wheels, the blue tint windows, the sculpted side skirts, front bumper and rear bumper, bird's eye maple(black colored) wood trim interior, and the white instrument cluster like the E55. well worth it. If i'm not mistaken the package is only about 2 grand. the appearance package make my car stand out alot more than the regular w211's

The Appearance Package is about a lot more than wheels (it should be, considering its cost). It gets you Bi-Xenon tracking headlights and Airmatic suspension, among other goodies. The Airmatic, in particular, would be a good option on a wagon.

it's 4k when adding it to the 350

huh,

it's 1460 to add it to the E500 4matic wagon
and 4000 for the 350.

Perhaps the 500 already comes with the Rucha wheels ?

I didn't realize it also changed the dash to white.

thanks for the info

I believe the appearance package also gets you the full leather interior as opposed to MBTex and leather inserts. I think it's well worth it.

The E500 already comes with Airmatic. That's the biggie in the price difference.

The package is more on the v6 model because the v8 already comes with the airmatic suspension, which is probably the most costly part.

When i was buying my car last year, appearance package was the ONLY thing I absolutely had to have. The premium package was just a last minute bonus for me. I really liked the LED lights, the xenons and I had to have the upgraded front apron (I really can't stand the standard one). Once I got it and felt the airmatic suspension I knew it was even more worth it with the adjustable suspension not to mention the ability to lower the car even more if you wanted to by yourself.

Definitely get the appearance package! Btw, I believe the full leather comes with the premium package but I could be wrong.

For me it was a deciding factor in the purchase of my vehicle. There were too many goodies that came with it:
- Different alloy wheels, 17" (not really that important as I will swap them out later)
- Different body work
- tinted glass
- LED brake lights (sweet... )
- Active cornering bi-xenons (excellent feature!)
- AMG style instrument cluster
- Black Birdseye Maple trim (very cool)
- Airmatic (for the E320\350, standard on E500)

I absolutely LOVE the Appearance package!

I have it on my 06 E350 and wouldn't have it any other way. The lights are awesome, the interior looks ten times better with the sport gauges/shifter and the black birdseye maple. The exterior mods are subtle but a lot better than the stock ugly 16" wheels.

I agree with everyone else. This is a must have. I have the appearance and premium and figured, if I am spending this much for a car then it better look great. If this extra money is too much, it might be a sign that the car is a little too expensive for your budget and you may want to think about a loaded C... Just my 2 cents.

All of the windows, except the windshield are tinted, I believe, and it looks nice. I would highly recommend this package. It was a must have for me as well, and I don't regret it at all. The only thing the AMG package had that the appearance package did not, which I wanted, was the dual real exhausts.

The delta between the APP pkg for the 350 and 500 is for the full leather and airmatic suspension which are standard on the 500.
