Sirius employee discount...
$12.95 per month
$142.45 for one year (one month free)
$271.95 for two years (three months free)
$499.99 lifetime
* MBUSA six months included in installation cost
Here’s a thought, for all those who lease or are thinking of leasing a Mercedes why not make it known to Sirius that you want a discounted plan that is in symmetry with your lease term. (i.e.: MBUSA 39 month lease).
Unlike those who purchase the majority of people who lease are more or less locked in. As it stands the average MBUSA lease runs 39 months and in having received 6 MBUSA months the remaining 33 months play out as follows:
(1) You can subscribe monthly (33 months) for a total of $427.35
(2) Subscribe annually for 2 years costing $284.90 (2 free months) plus $90.65 (7 monthly payments) all totaling $375.55
(3) Subscribe for 2 years costing $271.95 (3 free months) plus $77.70 (6 monthly payments) all totaling $349.65
How about a fourth option offering a 33 month subscription at employee discount?
Anyone who signed up for the free online trial recently got an email with a link for a Sirius Employee Discount – I believe it was a 1 year subscription for about $70. If you applied this same logic to coincide with your 39 month lease, minus 6 MBUSA months, it would cost roughly $195. 36 month lease, minus 6 MBUSA months, about $180 (also next level 3 year subscription cost for owners).
Bottom line, MBUSA would give 6 months, and Sirius would be giving employee discount. Subscribers win with convenience and a substantial discount, MBUSA wins with increased revenue generated from more Sirius installations, and Sirius wins by cost effectively increasing their subscriber base (attractive asset) and revenue to pay down debt quicker or invest.

The problem arises only if you purchase a GM car. Since they partially own XM, thats their only offering. (Since DCX&Ford partially own Sirius, thats THEIR only offering. The Japanese own no satellite company, so they offer both receivers & don't care which one you choose.
