Question Pano roof…do you like the form or function more?

I know it’s a pointless question…but I’m curious if I’m in the minority on this in that I love the look of the black roof (on my light colored car)…but am so/so on the function. Yes/yes it’s nice with the two roofs and the ambient lighting is cool and the big wind deflector is nice too….but I could live without all those things…but that black roof…I really like it…how about you? Form/Function or both…or maybe you don’t like it at all

Both. My girls love looking through the roof on the E55 at night or even in the daytime. I think it makes a great talking point and I love the way it looks on the White color of my E55.

If I had to choose I would go with the form. I too fell in love with the look of the continuous glass and black roof. The function really doesn't matter much to the driver and you still get some ambient lighting in the regular version.

I didn't get it on mine cause none of the dealers had it at the time and of course they always gave me the "oh you don't want that option" line.

I would have gotten it, but didn't like the look of a big black roof on a pewter car. It reminded me of a Vinyl roof of yesterday. I guess that makes horse racing!

I too was torn about it, and since I absolutely had to have the plat blue, I went against it.. it would only look good on a white, silver or black car IMHO.

It's best feature is the cool factor. I personally think it looks good from the outside on light colored cars, but thats my .02. You don't lose any functionality over the normal sunroof option, except a few owners have reported rattling with the panorama. No rattling here (knock on wood).

I really ejoy the extra light allowed in by the rear section of the pano roof. I think it brightens up the interior of my (charcoal) car quite a bit. It's also handsome from the outside of the car.

I think I am beginning to hear a little popping/creaking from the thing though.

For me, neither. I don't like the look (except on black or white) and never use the sunroof on the car I have.

I like it and my son likes it, too. (He can see airplanes)

The only function I want is separated control buttons

one button for open/tilt/close pano roof

two buttons, one for front and anther one for rear, in controlling shading.

I spent most of my adult life flying planes for a living, and I can't get my son to even turn his head for a plane!

i love both. wasnt sure about the form at first, but i really like it now. looks more sporty and sets it apart from the other 409380970 E classes in my hood. Its also awesome having so much light inside. 50/50 probably

I bought it for the practical side

and now love it for the way it looks and sets the car apart from other w211s.

Its a real talking point and the kids love it in the back.

I like it too. You don't really notice it on my car because the car is tectite gray, so it looks like a normal roof. But, I quite like it. Plus, rear passengers always seem to comment on how much they like it. I would agree that it looks better on certain exterior colors.
