I just got an update DVD in the mail today from MB. The letter enclosed states that my Nav system will benefit from the disck and will correct some issues. I think its really cool of them to send me the new disc. Now I don't have to buy one. I am assuming that most of you will be receiving one as well.

Disc # BQ 6 46 0209

I had Disc # BQ 6 46 0206 before.

That disk (0209) is the one that was in my car when I took delivery on 9/30/05. It is Version 2005.3. Had you subscribed to the DVD Nav Disk auto replacement program?

This DVD is being issued for select year and model MB products ( '04 E & S, '05 SL & SLK etc. ) to correct operational software problems. It is not a "gift" from MBUSA.

there were some issues of the comand freezing or map not moving. The update corrects these problems.

If they are, in fact, circumventing a TSB or service recall to correct software problems and rather mailing the fix out I applaud MB. As Jack questioned, if you haven’t subscribed to Navigation Updates you’ve gotten a freebie because a certain percentage of data changes every year and BQ 6 46 0209 version 2005.3 is the newest disc thus far.

I received mine yesterday. Is this solely software updates or does include new maps, data, etc.? The materials with the disc weren't clear.

K- And I'm still jealous of that wool blanket that I remember you mentioned in another forum on here, a number of months ago. The only "gift" I ever got from MBUSA was a picture of a 1900 Mercedes that they sent me after I bought my 2000 S430. The picture was sent with an apology letter for their Y2K error, congratulating me on my purchase of my new 1900 S-Class.

Ok. I am not sure if the disc includes updated mapping. I did follow the instructions and it did do some upgrade in the command. The disc that I had originally was 2005.1 and the disc that was sent to me was 2005.3. It is definitely not a 'gift' but sent as an easy fix so that one does not have to visit the dealer. Maybe someone can shed some light on the differences between 2005.1 and 2005.3.

Jack, the info with the disc says it also concerns the ability to enter addresses. Does your's allow you to directly enter an address or is it stll an address range?

I'd check, but my E won't be out of the service department for a week!

The only address I entered was to set up my Home and it showed me a range for the even and odd street numbers. My street number and one other are the only numbered units on the street (short street). The saved Home address does show the specific address number. So I cannot really answer your question at this point. I will fool with it later today and repost.

It is very accurate on the directions...the Turn instructions are right at the corners and at roundabouts exits.

When you go to Destination Entry and enter the Street Number, it provides a range for each side of the street. When it computes the route guidance, it shows the specific address as the destination. My feeling is that it guides you to the specific destination address based on the directions to my Home address.

I will have to load a destination and see if it tells me when I have reached the specific address or just the street.

I asked HQ about the disc and whether software issues only or maps too were updated. Here's the reply:
