Question SIRIUS 6 months or year free?

Who should I believe? MBUSA claims 6 months free service, SIRIUS claims 1 year free service.

MBUSA:
SIRIUS satellite radio is a subscription-based service, available on a monthly, annual, or lifetime basis. Included with your purchase of the SIRIUS hardware is six months free service.

Michael Moore, VP SIRIUS Customer Care:
Yes, you assume correctly and it is 1 year of service. The $142.45 balance will disappear when the payment we receive from Mercedes Benz and apply it to your account. This usually occurs within 30 days of activation.

And while we’re on the subject should they be saying free when actually it’s included in the cost of install. And, can anyone tell me why there is a difference in installation cost (CLS $679, E $500)?

Bottom line I have 1 year and if I should decide to keep it through the remainder of my lease term they’re currently quoting 2 years (3 months free) $271.95

Betcha the installation cost for a C-Class is about $350, and for an S-Class, about $900, too. It's like the price of the car itself; it's not set on a cost-plus basis; it's based on M-B's estimation of what people will pay for it.

Since Sirius is the one who bills you, that's the one to rely on. However, for '06's, the MB literature says 6 months.

current sat radio comes installed from factory and comes with a 6 months service...the kits that get retrofitted in the US after delivery come with 12 or 14 months service...

I doubt that the sirius dude knows that the sat radio no longer comes as an after delivery add-on package...

I got one year service included and then I asked SIRIUS to give me the cost of a year subscription as a credit so I could simply pay for a LIFETIME membership. I HATE bills and after all was done I ended up paying an additional $350 for a lifetime membership. I plan to keep this car for a while longer so I know I will at least break even.

On the other hand, if you sell the car, then the new owner can still theoretically enjoy the service as long as I don't call SERIUS and cancel it. I guess this could be a nice selling point or would cause the possible buyer to buy my car over a comparable one.

Steve

I love SIRIUS, but I am up late because I am burning new MP3 CDs for my 1000+ mile trip I am taking tomorrow. You just can't have too much music!

10/14/05 I took delivery on a CLS500 (built 8/05) and was told the install was done at the VPC. So if I understand you, you’re saying this would be considered retrofitted and entitle me to 1 year?
