I've read on this forum that it's a simple plug-program & play 2hour job. What are the costs for parts and do you buy at the dealer or elsewhere?

When I had my old E500, it was anything but a plug and play.....for factory spec Xenons like Steve installs that is. It's pseudo plug and play for the Xenon retro kits, which I think suck. Cheap wiring etc...

Dealer told me straight up they would have to totally rewire the system for Xenons......dealereze for $$$$$$...

Worth an email to Steve at mbenznl.com to see how much he charges. Not a ONE complaint on the guy....everyone super happy.

Although BiXenon retrofit is just a plug and play job with some minor StarDiagnose programming, Dealer wouldn't do it for you just because of liability issues (I think you need to retrofit the washer system as well for a full MB-way retrofit). It would have cost an arm and a leg if you let your dealer do it (14+ hour job + couple Gs for the lights and the washer system).

As other members stated, MBenzNL (Steve) is a good source for parts like this. I had Steve retrofitted BiXenons on my C320 last November and I couldn't be happier (I was in a snow storm in Windy City immediately after the install and the lights just proved themselves).

It might rock for you, but it probably sucks for people driving in the other direction see all those glare from your HID retrofit into the regular halogen housing.

Email Steve (steve@mbenznl.com) for a quote on the lights, they are usually very responsive.

These are two pictures of the OEM lights that I got from Steve in July 2004.

Stealer price is about $1000 ea.. Steve is probably 1/2 that or maybe a bit more.. Labor is 1-2 hrs max.. IF you want the car wired for the auto level (not required by law, contrary to much misinformation on this subject) you then need to spend $3000+ on a new wiring harness and sensors on the car.. that is a total waste of money. The washers are also a waste of money unless you drive in muddy conditions a lot.

I got lucky, Zam2000, a member sold me a set of brand new ones from a car that had them swapped back into halogens for $850 the pair.

Well, I guess if you won't need the washers in AZ, but it's quite handy in the midwest and the northeast in the winter.

those and seat heaters are about as useful as **** on a boarhog out here!

On my Volvo I have the washers and they unfortunately work whether you want them or not when you activate the w/s washer.. all they end up doing is spraying blue water all over my hood! I wish I could disable them.

I sold them to you for $650. How did you get that $850 number ? I wouldn't mind if you send me another $200 to make that $850

Friends working in ER in AZ told me once that they see people that were drunk and passed out in front of the hospital and had their skin baked off almost every single day. Another dermatologist swore that the most common place for skin cancer is your elbow if you're living in AZ.

stupid Volvo

No it doesn't, unless you adjust the light higher then it would be bad for people driving in the other direction. ;p

If you want info on prices and availability, please send an email to info@MBenzNL.com.

As far as your question - 'Who is Steve?' - is concerned... well, he is my brother - of course. Sorry, couldn't help myself. But you could do a search on this forum. Just type 'MBenzNL' and you will get loads of respond.

greetingz,

BigSis

I would trust steve to tear down my car and rebuild it (probably better than the factory). email steve, and he'll get you the Xenons..

I had Steve install my xenons on my car this past Saturday and he did an awesome job. I was amazed at the quality and efficiency of his work! I think I need the IPod integration next time he's in the area!

Well you're on the other side of the world so I can care less. If you did a search on old posts you'll know what I was talking about. Have fun with your HIDs.
