Event Data Recorder

I just read in Wired that at least 65% of 2004 vehicles have a black box (Event Data Recorder) installed. Does anyone know if the 2004 E500 has them?

The E class has had a data recorder since the W210 model I think.

If your car was sold in California after 7/1/04, there's one fairly sure way to tell if it has an Event Data Recorder - look in the owner's manual. California Vehicle Code Section 9951 now requires that disclosure. The section also restricts who can access and use the recorded data.

Based on past threads on this topic, our cars have an EDR, but nobody knows where it is or what it records. Anyone?
