Yes, it is possible to replace the wiper inserts on your W211. I used the Lexor Type A inserts which are long enough (must be trimmed to size) and narrow enough to easily slide into the narrow groove on the blade. Tug on the insert; one end slides easily and the other end does not. You want to work on the end that does not slide easily; that is where the insert is fixed with a metal tab. Pry off the plastic end cap with needle nose pliers. Some force is required, so be careful not to hurt yourself. Bend up metal tab. Remove old insert. Replace insert and repeat steps in reverse order until you are done. Good luck. Oh, by the way, these inserts cost me about $5 for the 2 inserts at Wal-Mart. Another poster on this board said he used the Michelin inserts (required lube to get them to slide in) for a bit more money. This won't solve the chattering problem. There is TSB on that where the wiper arm must be bent to the correct angle.

I'm the one that posted on using Michelin inserts. I've never had the arm angle adjusted, and so far the chattering and other annoying noise is gone. They are smoother on a bone dry windshield than they used to be when it was misting out. Could be that mine weren't chattering as heavily as others

I went to the dealer and told them about the problem and they replaced them free. one of the very few things the dealer has done right!
