The Next Generation E-Class.

I`m giving you an example of how precise Huckfeldt was with his impression
of the W221 S-Class a year before it debuted! man, was this guy accurate
or what!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well this is his impression of the W212 E-Class. I believe we can pretty much expect the W212 E-Class to appear this way. Looks good to me!

The currant E-Class.

looks better with the side body line Huckfeldt included in his interpretation.

Sad to see MB copt BMW and drop body side moldings :(

What a stupid thing to do. Moldings protect the car and add visual detail. Damned stupid.

was '03 E320 - now - '04 S4
The new S looks very happy with that big smile.

I like the more aggressive, less formal look.

It sorta reminds me of the shape of the new A6, but a whole lot better looking.

Think his crystal ball works as well four years out as it did one year out? I doubt that M-B has even finalized the design of the W212 yet.

Isn't the 2nd pic an actual photo?

Good point, I made a mistake though. I looked at the properties of that ps file, it`s about 2 years old. I do strongly believe MB is steering away from
the round headlights with the new design direction. The belt-line moldings are also a thing of the past, that might have started with the new S-Class already. Here is another ps.

Don't like it now, but when the time comes, it may be the best choice out there..

sad how we're regressing in auto design.. The MB's of the late 50's and early 60's (as with their American counterparts) were the high of design and style.

Mercedes all the way!
well, it was already gone from the CLS... while i understand the point of a side moulding, the thing is it has never saved my *** or my $$$ before, so i guess it just isn't that useful.

just like when Merc ditched the rubber wide mouldings they used to have and switched to plastic... plenty of people were complaining then too.. but whatever... =)

i don't quite like the second picture: the headlights don't "flow" enough for me - looks almost like an Airtrek:

Huckfeldt is good but obviously not always on the mark. Just guessing that the round front headlights that brought such popularity to the E will somehow be maintained.

The first two pictures are almost identical to the new S-class line.

Either way, I would likely NOT buy any car w/o side moldings. Form over function was never the German way.

Form over function wasn't the German way, but it's sure the BMW and Audi way now, so it wouldn't be surprising for Mercedes to join that merry fashionista party. Aftermarket side bumper strips are often available for cars that don't come with them, though they look like doodoo on cars not designed for them.

Oh Daaang, I really hope the picture is at least almost real. I love that look. I would say for sure if it looks like that I am buying a E55 in that body model. Those lines on the hood and the extra set of lights is exactly what that S-class was missing. Otherwise I have to agree they look identical. Which makes me believe ( sadly ) that it must be PS.
If not PS though, what year is a new body due for the E anyway? I need a new car in early 2007.

I strongly prefer the current look. The new one is too angular and choppy and the lines don't flow well enough for my taste.

From this pic, the Mercedes looks like a direct rip-off of the Lexus.. in which case, if MB does indeed make this nose, it's going to be a sad day when the Leader copies the follower!
