Anyone get concerned that their E doesn't "fit" them?

When driving my E55 or CLS and people give me that look, I just drop the hammer on them.
In light of the model you drive, you've already made a statement that you're successful and have good taste.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Y do us Youngns(29) would like to be driving a car which is always percieved as a status symbol, that is because it is what we would like to let everybody to know, that we're secure enough to afford n maintain such a vehicle. I'm not going to lie n be a hypocrate that i bought the car because i like the way it drives, nahh i luv the pointed star shining from my windshield. yeah sure i drives nice too but the star comes first.
I bought mine used, becuase i see better use of my money then paying 70G for a new car.

I bought the car when I was 31. When I was 28 or so I almost made a deal on a E-Class but learned that the 2003 E was going to take a slightly modified shape. I waited two glory years and bought my E500 in Jan 2004.
I wanted to buy a Jeep Grand Cherokee for 7 years, but when I took it for a test drive, within the very first minute it proved its not the kind of car (well SUV) I would enjoy driving.
I really liked the BMW 5 Series too... When I sat in that car I really felt like sitting in a rectangular water tank and decided against it... You see I have waited more than three years to buy the perfect car, drove almost all cars mid to highend cars in the US, waited some more and chose the E-500 over E-320. I chose the E-500 because E-320 really struggled to pull its own weight.
As a result of this I dont have a second thought that I should have bought a different car.
If you are really worried about how old people think you are then go buy a Scion or something. As you know they branded themselves as the "young people" brand.
Bought the car to get the [diesel] engine.
If BMW imported the 535d and MB did not import the CDI, I would be in the bimmer right now.
I have typically driven trucks or large doestic cars and muscle cars. I looked at the TDI VW Jettas, etc, years ago and decided to wait until a "real car" powered by diesel became available.
Definitely a geezer ride here in stuffy Central Va, but you would be amazed at the traffic violations I have committed in plain sight of cops and not been tampered with. You could drive twice as gingerly in an Eclipse or something and the "rice police" would have you suffering. The cops here seem like they just want to bust the ricers. Rodney Dangerfield would not complain driving the E around here.
I think the profile on MBWORLD is younger, too, as the older crowd is GENERALLY not online as much, or into the cars as more than just transportation. MBUSA.com reports average "E" owner as 57 yrs.
