This is true as its a PPG product and I believe its called "cerami-clear"...
The problem is the paint has to be baked at a high temp and unless your stripping your car of its interior and components, its nearly impossible to duplicate the way its done at the factory...

Don't worry if the spot of paint applied looks higher than the original paint finish, it will shrink down as it drys. This has always worked for me.

I bought a touch up paint kit from my dealer. Comes with the paint and a separate bottle for the clear coat. I warmed up the bottle of paint by dipping it into boiling water. This warms up the paint making it thinner and easier to apply. Then I bought a #0 fine point painter's brush at my local Aaron Bros store. Just dip the brush into the paint then a slight dab onto the chipped area. Fill the rest with clear coat.

Ryda,
You mean this clear coat just comes in a spray can, and you spray it on your car, like spray paint? I find it hard to believe the end result is a smooth surface? Am I missing something?

CE750,
The container actually says Clear lacquer. I apologize for my selection of words, which may have caused the confusion. Should have used bottle instead of canister. Anyhow, the clear coat comes in the same kind of bottle as the paint and its also applied with a brush. I didn't use it on my application, because I got lazy and kind of disappointed that even with the touch up paint was still noticeable. Entire kit costed $32.

Do you guys think it's possible to just have my hood painted and still have the color match with the fenders perfectly? I tried using touch up paint and its still noticeable. BTW, my paint is still in immaculate condition, waxed 4 times a year, and always garaged.
