i have a problem with mi 2003 w211 radio . it does it very rarely but it just drives me nuts...

sometimes when i turn the radio on the radio starts to ma a screeching noise that starts to increase in volume and at the same time you can see the computer display a COMMUNICATION MALFUNCTION on the dash display and after a few secconds the sound stops and then you can hear what ever music comes on the radio.. no matter what radio station it is on ,... if you turn the volume up while the problem is on hand the screeching sound increases and if you turn it down it does so to but the problem doesnt go away until it stops bi itself...

i have taken it to mi MB dealer and explained the problem but they have never seen or hear the problem .. so there is no way to fix it...

They should have already checked for fault codes and to see if you have the latest software. Nevertheless mention DTB P-B-82.85/325b APR04 – Audio System Intermittently Not Functioning.

hello 1st of all thanks to all

I'm located in PUERTO RICO and to be honest here MB the service here really sucks they never find the problems and there's allot of red tape . i had a E430 with 16,000 miles and they had it almoust every week on the shop with a diferent problem and they changed avery part of that car and finally the decided to buy it back from me and ofered me my 2003 w211

About theese responses i will copy them to mi notepad and take them to my MB dealer the next time the car needs a service wich is around the corner.

My 2003 w211 has been a pain they even changed the transmision when it was brand new ,,,, and now when i turn the weel it sounds aufull no matter in what direction i turn the weel and it never stops .. this will be the new thing..

MY LEXUS IS 300 HAS NEVER GIVEN ME ANY PROBLEMS AT ALL AND THE SERVICE ADVISORS ARA IMPECABLE....

Several DTBs address steering noises:

1) P-B-46.20/10/10a AUG05 Leak at Steering Rack Connection – Replaces O-Ring.
2) P-B-46.30/22a APR05 Noises From The Area of Power Steering Pump – Check for leaks, adjust power steering hose, and replace power steering pump.
3) P-B-46.20/16a APR05 Leaks at the Internal Steering Lines of the Control Head Connection and/or Steering Gear Housing – Replace all seals to control head and steering gear housing, if required replace power steering rack.

I am also from Puerto Rico and I also can say that the dealer service here sucks and I have a 2005 E500 which has a radio problem and I took the car to them already three time and they told me my radio reception doesnt wok because of 20% tints which I have but I told them that is not posible because it wasnt working before I put the tints on. The problem with the radio is that it has a weird sound interference which blocks the sound from the radio and to me it is like the ground cable to the radio is not well conected or making contact.
