Well this is actually the first time this has been questioned. I concur with the fine gentleman from Sacramento. Get in touch with Steve http://www.mbenznl.com for a definitive answer.

This is what you want and you can see it can clearly be done, but no doubt it will cost to have your vehicle converted. They fold when the vehicle is locked and unfold when a front door is opened.
Note I did not say unlocked.

yeah it kinda sucks, i have the folding mirror that i bought from steve and because my build date is 9/02 , it dosn't have the auto fold . steve told me if i can change the instrument cluster to an 03built one it should have it and he can program it on his next visit, i'm lucky in the sense that one of my friends friends (car on lease to be returned) is willing for me to exchange the instrument cluster if i can figure out how to take it off, we actually have about the same mileage and he has the white guage that would match my white car.
