Personally, I am not a fan of smoked tail lights on any color vehicle. I think that the factory tail lights look best and smoking them is a waste of money.

Personally I like smoked only on dark vehicles (i.e. dark maroon, dark blue, dark grey, and of course defintely black where it belongs) I think the blacked out treatment looks best when you do ALL the lenses on the car. On a W211 that might look a bit funny though. With pewter I'd stick with a cleared out look (kill the orange) Luckily the w211 is already designed like this with clear lenses everywhere EXCPEPT for those darn front bumper markers. You can get clears for them (Look phenomenal in my opinion on my car) and match them up or get a body color filler panel and delete them.
