Question Malfunction message delete

Hello to everybody, I need some help: I have a permanent malfunction message appearing in my cluster box stating "luces curva" (in english should be something like "...active cornering xenon lights". So everytime I start my car that message appear and I have to hide it by pushing the up or down arrows in the wheel. Does any of you knows how to get it permanently deleted? MB service reseted it twice but next time the car is started the message is there again it is supossed to be because xenon lights are working properly but the active cornering systen isn´t from time to time.
Thanks a lot in advance. Regards.

I see you have a 03. In the U.S. active headlamps became available in 04. Anyway you answered your own question in that service cleared the malfunction message, when it happened again the message redisplayed. I doubt it can be permanently deleted this warning system was put there for a reason. Why would you want to override it, why not have it repaired?

Repairing it means changing completely one of front lamps, aprox price 1200€ (aprox 1500 US $) + taxes and labour....So as actually the xenon lights works properly and its just the active system that fails I have decided not to change the lamp also taking into account that it´s the second time it happens (first one was covered under (in europe two years) warranty).
Thanks for your reply.

Why don't you take it to a good independant mechainic and see if they can fix it, might be something simple. Where abouts in Madrid do you live ? I have a flat in the Goya area at the moment.

I will probably follow your advice and look for a good independent mechanic. By the way I drive through Goya street every day, my office is just in Plaza Colon, it´s a nice area where your flat is, hope you enjoy it.

It will certainly test an independant, and I'm not sure I would be happy as a test bed for them to play with. (How many vehicles do they see with this system?)

It is strange that the fault has re-occurred, I would be tempted to go back to the dealer and ask why it has happened. How many of us have had a problem with a real defective active light, and how many have had a second instance on the same light?

I wonder if the problem you are seeing is just the end result of something else? (what is causing the fault?)

Sad that you only have a two year warranty, you would hope that Europe would have one warranty to cover every single member? Mobilio

Good luck,
John

Still a sunny morning in Torquay
