Fresh Pics of 2007 E here.....you ready for E550??
Its official debut will come at the New York auto show in April, but here's a sneak peek of the 2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class.
Caught during a commercial shoot, these undisguised Mercedes E-Class sedans and wagons show just how minor this midcycle refresh will be for 2007. Up front, the only noticeable change in appearance is the reshaped front air dam which now features three distinct openings instead of the narrow slits on the current model. In back, the changes are equally subtle. The taillights have the same shape, but the reflector mix is different. The chrome strip above the license plate now runs wider across the back and the exhaust pipes are no longer integrated into the rear fascia.
The real news for the E-Class will be the addition of the 5.5-liter V8 engine first introduced in the S550 sedan. With 382 horsepower and 391 pound-feet of torque, the new eight-cylinder should be more than enough to keep the E550 competitive with BMW's 550i and the Audi A6. The base E350 will remain and both models will use Mercedes' seven-speed automatic transmission. The Bluetec diesel introduced at the Detroit auto show in January will also be part of the lineup, but it has yet to be determined whether it will attain the 50-state status Mercedes is hoping for.
What this means to you: The 2007 E550 will be just 18 horsepower shy of the last-generation BMW M5. Gotta love the Germans.

The grille looks taller to me, with a more distinct "V" at the bottom. Or not.

These vehicles all have a different appearance and no doubt offer completely different options to US vehicles. Some options will have bi-xeons some will not. Some will have LED rear lights, some will not. So we really need to know what vehicle this is, whether it has LED rear lights, front, side and rear skirts etc etc.
I do agree that cosmetically it looks very similar to current models.
Bye for now,
John

The E500 is currently going at AUD165k, so I suspect the E550 will be sold for AUD 175k or more. I know I'll be happy with a E350...but i'm itchin for more hp
...ohh the agony!I too don't like the tail lights so I hope one can retro-fit current W211 tail lights on the new model. This would be the first time I've heard of someone using an older model parts on a new model..lol!

A cool overcast morning in Torquay
That is the facelifted E - one of the test drivers for MB lives right around the corner from me - they drive them home all the time.
Wheels? I dont know what they are, probably just some "junk" they put on there with winter tires.
