Chrome Door Strip Protector, Replace?

Regarding my new E, the chrome strips that protect the passenger door has two slight dings. Can anyone tell me how much that is to replace approximately? Curious if it is a pain or its doable?
Want my baby near perfection.

Thanks Bill

If you mean the body-color strips with the thin chrome accent on the doors, I just went through this with the S500, and it was $178 at the dealer for the part. You have to get the whole piece, which comes painted to match your car. It attaches with clips, so it is doable. Good luck.

Thanks. Although not happy to shell out the bucks, sounds like I will save on the labor and do it myself? How long did it take you. Was removing the old one hard?

Actually, got pretty lucky. The parts guy showed me the pictures on the screen, then came out to the car with me and popped the old one off and put the new one on. I gave him $20 for what took him maybe 5 minutes? Not sure if there was a nut fastener at the end of the molding. You can probably tell by looking when your door is open.

Maybe it will cost less for an E class than the S.

Should they fix first

Does anyone know in the Mercedes CPO program if all scratches and slight dings should be removed before sale?
I am set to pick up my E500 tomorrow and It suddently dawned on me to re read the CPO details.

http://www.mbusa.com/brand/pre-owned...nspection.html

There are two very small scratches on the car (one on the hood and the ot her on the door ) and as I mentioned on the previous post I believe the chrome strip needs to be replaced due to a very small ding.
The car is amazingly beautiful and has low mileage and maybe someone knows Mercedes definitive policy before I go and pick this up.

HELP and THANK YOU

Do you mean they should paint the chips & scratches with touch-up paint from a bottle, or sand, prep & spray the whole hood (or fender)?

Touch up paint if not used very sparingly, looks worse than leaving a minor scratch or small chip alone. You can't just repair a scratch, & fill, prep & paint the scratched area only. It means a whole panel usually.

Get sunglasses. My car isn't "just delivered perfect" either, but its considered perfect for a 2 yr, 3 month old car.
