I'll leave the translation to those better with German. But it looks like April 12 will be the date they reveal this at the NY Auto Show (According MBUSA.com too.) And we'll be able to take deliveries starting June.

^Which car is the Avantgarde...I cannot tell<<thats not a good sign.
The front grill should work with the redesigned front bumper but it simply doesn't. Its too aggressive for what should be an understated and classy car. The sporty aspect of it should be the wheels but none of them are appealing to me.
The rear lights are horrible and the worst part of this car. It like they couldn't think of anything to change so they thought they'd just change the colour. And that chrome strip (almost looks like PS on the red car...) didn't really need to be extended.
The only good points in this redesign is the new door mirrors and steering wheels OFF THE CLS!
I hope they fixed the little problems we had with the 1st gen W211 like not being able to scroll through presets via steering wheel. Also, hope they reintroduce the REST feature with the air con.
Ohhh and now it doesn't have SBC I love its little features! I'll never be able to drive a car that doesn't have SBC Hold again lol hahaha.

Well, they finally got the tail lights right! They look JUST like the 1st year production tail lights on the outgoing body style Toyota Camry!
You think it'll take 4 years to get the '07 Camry's tail lights on the new E Class?
They look like "Boy Racer" tail lights on a $2000 Honda with a $4000 stereo & a $3000 exhaust system tied up with wire to the undercarriage.

Oh I hate that steering wheel in the new E. I also hate those stupid big headrests they introduced for 06 I think. If it were me, Id swap out those ugly taillights for the non facelift ones.

I think this is a step backward...
Dislikes:
- Tail lights are horrid and cheap looking.
- Front grill looks too "hard" and doesn't flow nicely with the car's other curves.
- Steering wheel....WTF??!!
I think my decision is made...I'm not going to wait for the new E350 or E550... ... so, hello 540i...

Did BMW re-introduce the 540? As far as I know, the current models are 525, 530, 550 and the M5. That looks like a 5 series with some sort of MTech package.

225kW is still comfortable for city driving for a med-size sedan but the 550i was as uncomfortable as the M5 for city driving; too jerky between the lights. Hence my recommendation to the thread author to go for the E500 (225kW).

No disrespect, but the pic's of the 540i Sport remind me of a prostitute that has just put her makeup on with a paint roller. Stay with MB, please!!!

I would love to stay with MB's but I feel like I'm at the stage in my life that I need something more sportier without costing me too much money. I don't like 2 seaters and I don't want to spend more than $170k (US $120k) for a med-sedan and I don't want to buy a second hand car. So, that will rule out the upcoming E550 and as for the E350, well I don't like how the new E is looking (I prefer my current E) and it's not as sporty as the 540i. The handling of the 540i is just amazing, especially with its sports suspension.
My other options that I've considered are: CLS 350/500, AUDI A6 4.2, Range Rover HSE, Porche Cayenne, X5 4.8.
After talking to a number of people who have the 5-series (M5, 540, 550) and the E (320, 350, 500) and considering what type of feel I am now looking for, I think I have to go down the path of the 540i.....cest la vie

i like to ride my bike
the exterior is really ugly. I like the steering wheel though.
It seems my dad has to look outside of mb and go with
something else in two years.

I'm still very content with the appearance of my E320 '03 - in my opinion they got the styling right the first time! I am not a fan of the new steering wheel, tailights or front bumper.

Kinda offbased, but do you think BMW will introduce the new 3.5L also in the 5, making it a 535i not a 530i?
I do not like the new steering wheel in the E. I think that steering wheel looks great in the SL, but that may be b/c it is thicker. I typically love MB's styling, but I'm mixed on the E. Looks great at times, and at time's it doesn't.

Is it just me or did the W124 just seem to be so perfect inside and out. A real gentlemans car.
