Nevada Jack: I like your wheels......could you tell me if they are AMG and what size they are. I would like to replace the standard 17" alloy wheels on my 2003 E500 with some other 17" MB alloy wheels so I don't have to buy another set of tires since I just replaced the original Continentals with new Pirelli tires a few months ago.

They are stock 19" AMG wheels that come as part of the AMG kit for the W221. I am sure there are other MB AMG models that may have a 17" version similar to these.

Now that picture posting has been restored to the forums, I'm hoping some of you who have recently gotten badges for your W211s will post pictures. There are a few colors not covered, yet.

CL-Class
CLS-Class
CLK-Class
SL-Class
SLK-Class
ML/M-Class
G-Class
R-Class
SLR-McLaren

In contrast, there are just a few with upright stars:

S-Class
E-Class
C-Class

So, I think the upright hood star is no longer a "tradition." Mercedes-Benz is ensuring that all by themselves.

I like both the upright star and DFWdude's White Star Badge, and swap between them whenever the mood hits me.
The models you cite have the "star" in the grill.
The "star" is MBZ
In my opinion the upright star looks the best on sedans.
The star in the grill looks best the way intended, on sports models
For those of you who do deface/change the ornament, keep the original as the next buyer may not share your taste.

I was going through my statistics over the weekend, and realized that about 25% of drivers with my WHITE STAR Flat Badge are E-Class owners. So, this is a shameless bump to remind you that I have resumed production of my WHITE STAR Flat Badge. For information, please contact me at DFWdude@tx.rr.com.

Thought I'd share the stats of WHITE STAR Flat Badges located outside the US...

Australia = 4
Canada = 4
UK = 3
Singapore = 2
New Zealand = 1
South Korea = 1
Germany = 1

I'm not able to ship outside the US anymore, so this will not change in the forseeable future.

Thanks Rob for the Flat Hood Badge... much better than the plastic badges you can find on eBay.

Here are a couple shots on our Black 07 E550

Thanks for the photos of your '07. I wasn't sure how The White Star Badge would look with the new grill. Now I know. IMO it's too much like the grill medallion. Too bad as I really like the the quality and execution.

The star on the top of the grille looks tacky. I wonder if it is removable? Could it be held in place with double-sided tape like the trunk emblems? If so, just "de-badge" it with dental floss...

I agree that the grill badge and the flat badge almost seem like overkill.... We are also waiting on some aftermarket grills with the large star in the center to come out. I have found one on:

http://www.formymercedes.com/mb_resu...tegory=Grilles

However, the grill for the 2007 E Class also has the grill badge but I am sure there will be others that don't. Then the combination should be nice.

Performance Products also has one listed:

http://www.performanceproducts4benz....&vehicle=32526

It looks like it may not have the grill badge but the price is quite a bit more.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

It is nice to have an option of the raised star vs. flat badge (especially if I decide to ever take the car to a car wash) and it only takes about a minute to swap them. Rob does great work and the quality is excellent.

Has anyone determined if the grille-top badge is removable?

On the S Class I don't think it is possible. The shield is curved and fits into a indentation in the grille itself making it almost flush with the surface of the grille. I would assume the same is true for the E or any other new model where they have placed the shield on the grille.

Our 07 E500 is similar to the S class where it is curved and set in an indentation.

I think I should point out that SPLe320's car is an '07 E-Class as well, and SPLe320 has determined he doesn't care for the double badge, as discussed.

When people purchase this item, I have no idea whether they like the double badge look, or whether they intend to replace the OEM grille with an aftermarket grille that wouldn't have the badge in the grille, like irishstout. Certainly, the 2.25" plastic SLK flat badge would be even more "overkill" than the WHITE STAR Flat Badge.
