W211 Aircon Problems - Wont Switch On

Hi, apologies if this is already covered in a topic but I couldnt find it. I have a 2003 W211 E200 and when trying to turn on the AC using the ACoff button the red LED never switches off, it just flashes 3 times then comes back on. I just bought this car and really need some help to understand what it wrong here and what would need to be fixed to resolve the problem.

Thanks for your advice!

Cheers
Brian

Well I'm not sure about the red LED flashing, but I have a similar thing once every blue moon the AC doesn't work from the first try.

I basically drive a little then try again and it works!

By the way, try switching it on using the fan button rather than the "off" button (at least that's what i do)

This is just one of the few "clitches" with the w211.. I even had a problem with the SBC brakes making a very wierd noise for no reason (at stand still) but the dealership replaced my whole SBC system under warrabty.

I guess benzes these days aren't as reliable as they once used to be

Thanks, actually ironically I am also having a noise issue with the SBC system also. Not sure about the warranty status as the car is 3yrs old now.

On the AC site of things it never works, I tried your trick also but no luck, just flashes and switches the LED back on

Believe the flashing light indicates a fault such as low gas in the system which will not permit the system to turn on/engage the compressor thus preventing damage to the compressor.

Agree with Sosh. This happened to our car a little over a year ago; blinking LED. The AC compressor was leaking and was replaced under warranty. I hope the leak in your car is in a less expensive place.
